Additional InformationProgram InformationThis web site outlines the schedule for all sessions and provides complete descriptions. A final program and program summary listing all room locations will be distributed at the meeting. Antitrust NoticeActive participation in the Society of Actuaries is an important aspect of membership. However, any Society activity that arguably could be perceived as a restraint of trade exposes the SOA and its members to antitrust risk. Accordingly, meeting participants should refrain from any discussion which may provide the basis for an inference that they agreed to take any action relating to prices, services, production, allocation of markets or any other matter having a market effect. These discussions should be avoided both at official SOA meetings and informal gatherings and activities. In addition, meeting participants should be sensitive to other matters that may raise particular antitrust concern: membership restrictions, codes of ethics or other forms of self-regulation, product standardization or certification. The following are guidelines that should be followed at all SOA meetings, informal gatherings and activities:
If you have specific questions, seek guidance from your own legal counsel or from the SOA's executive director or legal counsel. SOA Presentation DisclaimerPresentations are intended for educational purposes only and do not replace independent professional judgment. Statements of fact and opinions expressed are those of the participants individually and, unless expressly stated to the contrary, are not the opinion or position of the Society of Actuaries, its cosponsors or its committees. The Society of Actuaries does not endorse or approve, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, accuracy or completeness of the information presented. Attendees should note that sessions are audio-recorded and may be published in various media, including print, audio and video formats without further notice. Continuing Education CreditEnrolled Actuary CreditThe Society of Actuaries has been designated by the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries as approved sponsors of continuing education for Enrolled Actuaries. The specific requirements for continuing education are published by the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries. Although the SOA has taken all steps reasonably necessary and appropriate to ensure that this program meets the requirements set forth by the Joint Board, we cannot guarantee that this event will earn credit either as core or non-core, inasmuch as that determination ultimately rests with the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries. Sessions designated “core” or “noncore” above the session titles are recommended to help satisfy continuing education credits for enrolled actuaries. Instructions for obtaining credit will be provided at the meeting. For further information on this requirement, please visit the Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service. U.S. Qualifications StandardThe Qualification Standard for Actuaries Issuing Statements of Actuarial Opinion in the United States (US Qualification Standard) took effect January 1, 2008. The SOA believes that sessions at this meeting may be suitable for filling this requirement as continuing education under the US Qualification standard. Ultimately, it is an actuary’s responsibility to make a reasonable, good-faith determination of what CE opportunities will enhance his or her ability to practice in a desired field. For further information on this requirement, please visit the American Academy of Actuaries Web site. Guest PresentersPresenters who are not members of the SOA or any actuarial organizations are indicated with an asterisk (*) throughout the web site.
